South West Regional College Gaol

Client:

South West College

Overview:

Location: Enniskillen

This project involved the refurbishment of the existing Grade B1 listed Gaol Building is part of the South West College (SWC) Enniskillen building estate. It was originally a Gaol however the interior was stripped out in the past and converted to a Gymnasium for use by the College. The space was no longer used for that purpose and had been unused for several years with deteriorating fabric.

The SWC recognised that the Gaol building is an asset and wanted to refurbish the building to serve a useful purpose whilst retaining the existing historic fabric. We designed a high quality internal refurbishment of the space to act as a showcase building, retaining the maximum amount of existing fabric of quality and interest to retain the existing character. Our proposal did  not damage the existing original fabric of the Gaol.
